Collinson FX Market Commentary – Mar 24 – US tetters on health vote
The RBNZ left rates unchanged, as expected, observing weaker than expected growth allowing accommodative monetary policy. The Central Bank welcomed the weaker KIWI, while jawboning it lower, to little effect. The NZD held above 0.7000, despite a rising reserve, while the AUD continued to drift lower.

The winner of the first two races in the 2017 JJ Giltinan 18fter Championship has been awarded average points for her scoring races in the series after a Hearing by the protest committee in Sydney this morning. Yamaha NZ was forced to withdraw after taking evasive action to avoid a give-way boat, suffering damage and later capsizing just before a 22kt rainsquall hit the fleet.

Collinson FX Market Commentary – Feb 10 – NZD collapses on RBNZ stall
The RBNZ left rates unchanged, in their latest Monetary statement, shifting the bias from easing to neutral. Many expected a more bullish approach to interest rates, but the Central Bank predicted no action until 2019. This did not gel with reality. This reading of the monetary situation triggered a collapse in the NZD, which fell from above 0.7300, to trade 0.7175!
