GAC Pindar shrink wrap 12metre tender for long sea voyage to Europe

As delicate loads go, it was a big one. The tender weighed in at a little under 10 tonnes and was 12m long.

Beacons make for busy Labour Weekend for RCCNZ

The RCCNZ operations room was kept fully occupied with a series of beacon activations resulting in successful rescues – and five inadvertent activations also followed up. Six small vessels broke down around the country requiring assistance from other vessels or Coast Guard.

PIC Coastal Classic – VXOne holds onto coat-tails of the 50ft fleet

They started just astern of the 50fter fleet at 10.00am and her aim was to be the first boat under 50ft to Tiri Tiri Matangi, after which they intended to pull into Gulf Harbour and their waiting trailer.

America’s Cup – Hurricane Nicole intensifies will hit Cup bases today

The hurricane which has now been upgraded to a Category 4 on a scale of 5 is due to hit Bermuda just after noon, local time.

America’s Cup – Cyclone Nicole set to hit Bermuda on Thursday

Nicole, has been upgraded from a Tropical Storm to a category 2 Hurricane and is headed for the America’s Cup bases in Bermuda. Winds are forecast by the local media to have a sustained strength of 95kts and gusts of over 110kts. Of the four teams in Bermuda, only Softbank Team Japan have commented on their preparations for the arrival of Hurricane Nicole, posting images of the base being secured

Predictwind – Images of Hurricane Matthew’s trajectory – 0800GMT Oct 7

Hurricane Matthew has wrecked havoc in the Caribbean and Haiti in particular. In these images from Predictwind’s wind mapping facility we can see the path and shape of the of the hurricane as it moves towards a landing point on the US coast just north of Miami and then moves along the US coast before coming to a stop around Jacksonville. A second hurricane is aimed at Bermuda.
